The secret ingredient for hyper-realist creations!
Product Features
What is Chocolate Resin Clay?
Chocolate Resin Clay from our Gourmet Clay Series is a specialized air-dry clay from Japan. It is designed for creating hyper-realistic mini food art (fake bake) and authentic kawaii designs.
With its light consistency and fine, realistic texture, this air-dry clay is ideal for fake food and miniature treats that look like freshly baked chocolate desserts.
Once fully dry, Resin Clay becomes extremely hard and durable, making it suitable for keychains, accessories, charms, and even jewelry.
Ideal for
Perfect for chocolate Sweets Deco and realistic Fake Food miniatures like:
- Chocolate desserts of all kinds — cakes, tortes, tarts, and brownies
- Donuts, cookies, muffins, and cupcakes
- Chocolate ice cream and confectionery
- Waffles, pancakes, and crêpes
- Chocolate chips, glazes, and decorations
- Charms, keychains, and jewelry pieces
Texture & Sculpting
Chocolate Resin Clay features a smooth, elastic base consistency with a deliberate, fine grain—this texture mimics real chocolate dough, making your miniatures look incredibly authentic. It is non-sticky, allows for precise shaping, cutting, and texturing, and dries without cracking.
Pro Tips for Working with the Clay:
- Keep it Supple: Lightly apply hand cream before starting to keep the clay smooth. If it begins to dry out while you're working, a light mist of water will help.
- Natural Sheen: For a realistic chocolate gloss, apply a tiny bit of colorless oil to the surface before it dries.
- Perfect Details: Using silicone molds will result in an exceptionally smooth surface—ideal for chocolate bars and pralines.
Storage:
After use, immediately wrap the clay tightly in plastic wrap (cling film), place it back into the resealable bag, and store it in an airtight container.
- Insider Tip: A slightly dampened paper towel placed inside the container will keep the clay fresh for months—just remember to change the towel regularly and disinfect the container with alcohol.
Texturing Techniques & Modeling Tips
Chocolate Resin Clay contains fine hollow bodies and plant fibers – the grainy texture is not a defect, but a design feature. It is precisely this structure that enables the following techniques:
1. Tearing – for airy dough
Form the clay into a ball when wet and pull it apart abruptly. This creates an authentic broken texture like a fresh chocolate muffin or airy sponge cake.
2. Cutting – for dense cakes
After complete drying (3–7 days), cut with a sharp scalpel or utility knife. The grainy structure breaks unevenly at a microscopic level – resulting in a dense, grainy cut surface like a chocolate cake.
3. Breaking – for chocolate bars
Beforehand, score fully dried, flat plates with a ruler and knife, then break them with your hands. The broken edge looks like real dark chocolate – matte and crystalline, not like plastic.
4. Stippling – for fine pores
Lightly dab the clay vertically with a 7-needle tool or an old toothbrush when wet or leather-hard dry. This creates fine pores – ideal for cookie surfaces or chocolate bread crust.
5. Marbling – with Vanilla Clay
When wet, briefly knead a small amount of Chocolate Clay into a larger piece of Vanilla Clay – stop before the colors completely blend. This creates a marble cake effect or freshly mixed cocoa dough.
Why Chocolate Resin Clay?
Most clays require time-consuming mixing, coloring, and texturing—and even then, the results rarely look the way you hoped. Chocolate Resin Clay solves exactly that problem:
- Pre-colored – Achieve that deep, perfect chocolate tone from the very first second.
- Pre-textured – The natural grain looks authentic all on its own.
- Consistent Quality – Expertly made in Japan for reliable results every single time.
- No Baking Required – Air-drying formula; simply shape it and let it set.
The Result: Precise, clean, hyper-realistic food miniatures—achievable even for beginners.
